Please type the IATA airport code in the searching box. For example, for San Francisco International Airport, type “SFO”. This demo will give you the relevant delay and traffic information in the table.
The units for average delay, taxi-in time, taxi-out time are all minutes. For example, San Francisco airport has an average delay of 17 minutes, average taxi out time of 19 minutes and average taxi in time of 8 minutes.
This analysis only utilizes air traffic data for the month of December 2016. After we verify its feasibility, we will develop a system to automatically download the most recent air traffic data from the US Bureau of Transportation.
Also utilizing air traffic data for the month of December 2016, the data table 2 provides more robust searching abilities. We may specify the flight number or any arrival / departure airport in the filter box. For example, we can type AA1020 under the box of flight number. Doing so will show you the departure airport and destination of the flight and its relevant delay information. For another example, we can type SFO in the box under departure airport (arrival airport). The program will automatically give all flights departing from (arriving at) San Francisco Airport. In many cases, we may narrow down the search by specifying both departure airport and arrival airport. In addition, using the up and down arrow next to the column name, we can sort the searching result by ascending or descending order.
Future development of this table is to extract real time flight information from some flight track websites. It would be interesting to compare current delays with historical delays.
