Research Questions

Ever since Wright brother invented the first airplane in 1903, aircraft has become one of the major methods of transportation. According to the research by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation, 895.5 million passengers chose to travel by air in 2015, which was a 5% increase from 2014*. However, not every passenger satisfies with his/her flight. Passenger concerns and complains about many aspects of air travel including flight delay, customer services, overbooking, food and beverage.

Specifically, focusing on three major U.S. airlines: Delta, United Airlines and American Airlines, this project provides an easy way for customers to get basic idea of certain flight or airport, visualizes the on-time performance of different carriers, tries to answer several questions like do airlines perform differently in rating, delay, and overbooking, compares customer reviews for different airlines, and provides suggestions to future researchers and passengers.
